Originally constructed as the home of James Allen’s carriage-making business, this 1853 building was purchased by the Masons in 1909. Expansion on the historic building took place on its 100th anniversary in 1953. The 154 year old building is still home to the Masons lodge room and banquet room on the second floor.

Canadian Red Cross Society Open Doors Burlington
Canadian Red Cross

Originally built in 1862 as the Wesleyan Methodist Church and School, this century and a half old building has been home to the Canadian Red Cross since 1969. The exterior of the one-storey, front-gabled frame building has remained untouched, preserving Burlington’s past.

This historic train station was built in 1906 for the Grand Trunk Railway and was used as a combination of passenger and baggage depot. The unique architectural and stylistic features are common of many of the Grand Trunk Railway stations built in the early 1900s.

Originally built in 1889 using local field stones, the Lowville School House served the students of SS. No 9 until 1953. At nearly 120 years old, the school house has retained its six over six panel windows, and some of the original 1889 shutters.

Since 1980, Burlington has celebrated summer with the Sound of Music Festival. And in 2017, the festival is going to be huge, with music spread over 10 days, multiple stages, and bringing fan favourites to play for Burlington music fans.

The Sound of Music Festival offers both free and paid programming, and will kick-off this year with a ticketed show featuring seven acts, and special appearances by Randy and Mr. Lahey of The Trailer Park Boys on Saturday, June 10.

And the music continues from there, with free shows available to the public between Sunday, June 11 and Sunday June 18, offering a wide variety of local and international talent.
