Top 5 Reasons to Love Burlington’s Royal Botanical Gardens

Just minutes away from the front doors at Paradigm, the Royal Botanical Gardens offer a taste of just how gorgeous nature can truly be.

It’s not an understatement to say that we’re spoiled to be so nearby, and it also wouldn’t be hard to give you a long list of reasons why we love visiting the Gardens, and we believe you will too. But, we’ve managed to pare down our list to the Top 5 reasons we love the Royal Botanical Gardens in beautiful Burlington, Ontario!

RGB Spring Tulips1. It Really Is Gorgeous

The Royal Botanical Gardens include a vast 1100 hectares of gardens and nature reserves, offering seasonal opportunities to see nature in all forms of bloom and life cycle throughout the year.

Spring is our favourite as the trees bud, the flowers bloom, and you can practically feel the rebirth and renewal in the air!

2. Get Some Exercise

With over 27 kilometres of walking trails within the RBG nature sanctuaries, as well as two canoe launches (Princess Point & Valley Inn) available, you can give yourself a walking or paddling workout.

The five main trailhead locations (Princess Point, Westdale, the Arboretum, Cherry Hill Gate, and Rock Chapel) lead to the aforementioned 27 km of trails, as well as links to other trails outside of the RBG. Test a few trails, find your favourite, and you will have a great plan to stay in shape this year.

RGB The Tea House3. Fantastic Dining Options

Both the Greenhouse Café and Turner Pavilion Tea House make for excellent options when you need a bite to eat at the Royal Botanical Gardens.

The recently renovated Greenhouse is a lovely spot to stop for an afternoon bite (open 7 days a week, 11:30am to 3:00pm), and works as a fantastic meeting place for friends and family to start or end a day at the RBG.

4. Awesome Educational Opportunities

Through children’s day camps (March Break and Summer programs) and over 200 courses and workshops for families, kids and adults in the areas of gardening, nature, botanical arts and wellness through the RGB Experiences campaign, there is no shortage of learning and educational opportunities at the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Maybe a Vegetable Gardening, Nature Identification, or Photography class is just what you need to fill your calendar this year. Check the online schedule now to find an upcoming class!

RGB Shops at the Garden5. Sensational Shopping

If you’re a gardener (or know one) who needs tools, accessories, sun-wear, hats, books, or garden décor, or if you’re looking for unique, special, and gorgeous gift ideas, the Gardens also has you covered at The Shop @ The Gardens from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily.

Also, don’t miss the Native Plant Sale on April 23rd for your chance to purchase native plants, trees and shrubs for your garden from many of the region’s native plant vendors. Experts will also be on hand to answer any and all of your questions!

But don’t take our word for it, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens for yourself and see just how great they are. We trust that you won’t be disappointed, and that you’ll be scheduling your next trip before you’ve had a chance to leave.
